Healthcare is a field of application that is particularly appropriate for research in information technology and systems. It is at the heart of future economic and social development, as indicated by the National Agency for Research (ANR): “The development of technologies for healthcare and autonomy is associated with a strong societal need and growing constraints, including: • the aging of the population in developed countries; • the move towards greater prevention of disease and dependence, and a shortening of the diagnosis-therapy cycle, and towards innovative therapeutic tools; • growing societal demand for the management of healthcare and the loss of autonomy in developed companies, as well as an evolution from the ‘patient as an individual’ to the ‘patient as a consumer’ logic; • a need to control healthcare costs." |
